Zendaya Barbie Is Here!

It’s official, Barbie has dreads! On Saturday the19-year-old received her Oscars-inspired doll at the Barbie Rock 'N Royals Concert Experience in Los Angeles.

She took to Instagram to post a side-by-side of her doll and a photo of herself with dreadlocks at the Academy Awards.

Alongside the pictures, she wrote 'When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my...how times have changed. Thank you @barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty,' she wrote with a side-by-side comparison of her Barbie and Oscar look.

'Can't wait to keep doing amazing things with you #besuper @luxurylaw @theshelbyswain.'

As previously reported, after Zendaya walked the red carpet at the Oscars with dreadlocks, Giuliana Rancic said on “Fashion Police” that the young star’s hair “probably smelled like patchouli oil or weed,” a comment that was later blasted for being racist. Not long after, Zendaya slammed Rancic on Twitter for her “ignorant slurs and pure disrespect.” She added that the “Fashion Police” host’s remarks were “not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive.”

Zendaya then noted, “There is already harsh criticism of African-American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair.” She further explained, “My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough. To me locks are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion’s mane.” Zendaya later accepted Rancic’s apology.
