New Edition Movie Coming Soon, Minus Bobby Brown

Being a longtime New Edition fan I must say I'm excited about this movie, it was announced that BET will produce a biopic miniseries dedicated to the group’s life, music and legacy.

Members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant will co-produce the untitled miniseries along with the band’s longtime manager Brooke Payne; Bobby Brown was not named as a producer in the press release.

The currently unnamed project is set to air over three nights and has been slated for a premiere date in 2016.

New Edition said in a statement, “From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five—we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you,” New Edition said in a statement.

At press time, a director for the project has yet to be named .
