Earlier this month Janet Jackson announced she would release her first album in seven years in the fall, and on Monday, after teasing a new track, the singer released “No Sleeep,” first song from the untitled LP. “I dedicate this to my love,” she tweeted.
The sensual song, produced by longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, is classic Ms. Jackson. She sings about waiting for some needed one-on-one time with her lover. Sticking to the theme of getting no rest, the urge to be with each other is so strong that she hopes to stay up all night with him.
“No Sleeep” will be on her upcoming album slated for this year. It'll be the first album from Ms. Jackson in the seven years since Discipline and will be available to purchase at midnight via Rhythm Nation/ BMG, which Jackson recently called her “new artistic home.”
Jackson had promised fans “new music, new world tour, a new movement” for 2015, and she’ll kick off the 36-date Unbreakable World Tour in August.
