Oprah Winfrey, Lupita Nyong'o & More Attend Essence Magazine Luncheon

With only a few days until the Oscars Thursday saw Hollywood A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey, Lupita Nyong'o and more flocking to Essence magazine's annual Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills.
Gina Prince-Bythewood kicked things off by referencing her athletic days at UCLA. “We are playing in someone else’s house, but it doesn’t matter. Tune out the BS,” she said as she presented the Discovery Award to shorts filmmaker Iman N. Milner.
Lupita made a brief speech about not one but seven of the night's prestigious honorees Orange Is The New Black stars Uzo Aduba, Laverne Cox, Samira Wiley, Danielle Brooks, Vicky Jeudy, Adriennce C Moore and Lorraine Toussaint who were all presented with the award 'to honor fresh and innovative storytelling as well as groundbreaking portrayals'.
Along with the Netflix series ensemble, Regina King, Ruth E Carter and British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw were the event's awardees.Oscar nominated artists Common and John Legend - performed their hit Glory from the movie Selma at the bash.
Other stars who attended the luncheon were Kelly Rowland, Tia Mowry, Holly Robinson Peete, Jurnee Smollett Bell, Garcelle Beauvais and Tracee Ellis Ross.
